Requirements: Internet-connected computer w/ browser

Cost: Free

 

A.nnotate lets you markup web pages or uploaded PDFs or MS Office files online. Your  annotations can be private or public and shared with whomever you wish.  This tool also has an index of all your markups so you can easily find them again.

Example Uses

  • faculty requires students to annotate any web pages used for research for papers and projects
  • students share draft documents with each other to get feedback / peer review
  • faculty shares important passages on web pages or documents rather than simply pointing students to a web site

  • plagiarism can be reduced when students are required to turn in annotated pages in support of their papers or projects
  • research skills are improved when students are required to interact with the text in a more directed fashion
